POSITION OVERVIEW
Our client, an established and growing law firm in Abilene, TX, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its criminal defense practice.
This opportunity is open to recent law school graduates and experienced attorneys looking to develop litigation skills, gain hands-on courtroom experience, and work directly with board-certified trial and appellate counsel.
The firm handles criminal defense, appeals, post-conviction matters, family law, and civil litigation, with a primary focus on Texas state and federal criminal cases.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Manage an assigned caseload with guidance from senior attorneys.
• Represent clients in criminal defense matters in state and federal courts.
• Conduct client consultations, review discovery, and develop case strategies.
• Research and draft motions, pleadings, briefs, and post-conviction writs.
• Prepare for and participate in hearings, negotiations, and jury trials.
• Collaborate with attorneys and dedicated paralegal support staff.
• Develop courtroom and litigation skills through hands-on experience.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Texas Bar admission, pending bar results, or plans to sit for the bar in 2026.
• No prior attorney experience required; recent graduates encouraged to apply.
• Strong legal research, writing, communication, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and work collaboratively.
• Interest in criminal defense, litigation, and courtroom advocacy.
• Criminal defense or litigation experience preferred but not required.
• Willingness to work fully onsite in Abilene, TX.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Entry-Level (0 Years): Starting at $60,000.
• 1–3 Years: $75,000–$90,000 base salary.
• 4–6 Years: Competitive salary based on experience.
• 7+ Years: Approximately $115,000+ base salary.
• Total Earning Potential: $150,000+ with monthly performance bonuses tied to case resolutions.
